GSK is a global biopharma company focused on vaccine and medicine development. They have 90,000+ employees and serve 80+ markets around the world. GSK wanted to move inclusion and diversity beyond compliance training, and become a more modern employer that prioritizes employee health and wellbeing, and offers development opportunities for all.
GSK wanted to establish foundational knowledge of unconscious bias across the organization in order to develop a more inclusive workplace, starting with their Global Industrial Operations, Research & Development, Human Resources, and Global Vaccines Commercial teams.
We started by facilitating unconscious bias and inclusive behaviors trainings with the Global Industrial Operations leadership team, featuring hands-on activities, video, group discussions, and peer-coaching. Participants also used the Inclusive Behaviors InventorySM to gain deeper insight on their current practices and priority areas for growth. They learned how to identify and address unconscious bias, and developed new inclusive behaviors to implement as diversity and inclusion ambassadors for their teams and the organization. Trainings were then rolled out to more leaders, and we provided inclusion resources and tools for GSK’s learning management system to support all internal team members.
GSK leaders are now equipped to model inclusive leadership and address biased behaviors, with 95% of participants stating after the program that they now understand unconscious bias and how it impacts their work. Next, unconscious bias and inclusion trainings will be rolled out to leaders’ direct reports.
Miranda Suys, Learning Business Partner, GSK“I saw interest in Inclusion & Diversity topics coming from different departments, and I am grateful that we are able to partner with Aperian to offer a standardized, streamlined program to our internal teams. They provide up-to-date learning resources and take the initiative to support our team members.”
