Tomomi “Jimi” Kumai is a Senior Consultant with Aperian who brings over two decades of experience in strength-based coaching, Global Leadership and Intercultural Management, East-West Organizational Behavior Comparisons, and Unconscious Bias, across the USA, Japan, Korea, and China. As an intercultural trainer and coach, Ms. Kumai is dedicated to helping individuals and teams unlock their potential by fostering self-awareness and alignment with core values—key foundations for meaningful growth in today’s globalized world.
Ms. Kumai has been working as an intercultural trainer and coach, delivering training programs for Global 500 companies and supporting leaders overseeing multicultural teams, as well as expatriates living and working in different countries. Her expertise lies in guiding clients toward developing cultural agility and enhancing their leadership effectiveness in diverse environments.
Ms. Kumai boasts strong language proficiency, with native fluency in Japanese and near-native fluency in English and Korean. She currently resides in the US.
Ms. Kumai holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She also holds a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential from the International Coaching Federation (ICF), demonstrating her expertise in coaching. Additionally, she has completed certifications in Intercultural Foundations from the Intercultural Communication Institute and is currently training to become a neurodiversity coach.
