of mentors and mentees say they’d recommend Aperian as an essential resource for career preparation.
Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young professionals worldwide successfully launch their careers. Their mentorship program matches first-generation students and those with limited financial resources with dedicated mentors who guide them through a career readiness curriculum. The program operates globally, with 25,000 students and mentors representing over 150+ countries and 8+ refugee camps.
GMI recognizes that individuals need to be able to adapt to different cultures for personal and professional success in the global workplace. They knew they needed an accessible framework to help mentors and mentees demystify cultural dynamics, become more aware of their personal work style, and bridge differences with others.
Through the Aperian Grant Program, we partner with GMI to integrate a suite of Aperian tools into their career readiness curriculum. Most notably, mentor pairs use the GlobeSmart® Profile to discover their work styles and the cultural influences behind them. By completing a 40-question assessment and comparing Profiles, mentors and mentees gain immediate insight into their similarities and differences. This process helps pairs navigate their unique dynamic and establishes a shared language for their partnership from day one.
Mentor pairs also have access to GlobeSmart Guides and Aperian Copilot, which provide expert-vetted information on 100+ cultures to help professionals succeed in global business environments. These insights help students align their personal work styles with the cultural styles of their target job markets. Throughout their mentorship experience, students also leverage My Skills to improve their cultural agility and team collaboration skills.
This partnership has equipped over 550 mentors and mentees with the tools and skills needed to build strong, cross-cultural professional relationships. Students report a significant increase in confidence when entering global markets, gaining the self-awareness to adapt to new workplace norms without compromising their individual strengths. In fact, 99% of students and mentors stated they’d recommend Aperian as an essential resource for career preparation.
Jon Browning, CEO, Global Mentorship Initiative“The future of work isn’t just borderless, it’s profoundly human. Remote work has redefined where talent resides, and artificial intelligence is revolutionizing how we learn, communicate, and get things done. But at the center of all this disruption, one truth remains: the skills that matter most—empathy, adaptability, cultural intelligence—cannot be automated.”
